Green Penguin and Jmail Launch Blog Service For Jmail Users

Green Penguin, an advanced IT consultancy and software vendor based in Tokyo, and Jmail, Japan's largest provider of vanity-address email accounts, announced today that they have launched SmoothBlog services to users of Jmail’s services that have Jmail addresses in the moon.co.jp domain.

Rajiv Trehan, founder and President of Green Penguin, said "We are delighted to launch blogs for Jmail users, as this provides Jmail’s users with powerful new ways to use their Jmail account to communicate with others via the Web. By extending Green Penguin's SmoothWeb content management system, we can provide SmoothBlog blogs to each of Jmail's users, and allow them to post comments and articles from a PC or from their cell-phone. Since SmoothWeb is multi-platform at its heart, SmoothBlog comments and images can be viewed and interacted with from any PC browser, as well as from any Japanese web-capable cell-phone."

Blog and Forum Capabilities of SmoothWeb
  • Post via email, from PC, keitai, or other email client. This allows posting of photos from cell phones that have cameras.
  • Post via a web interface
  • Administer blog (blog stylistic settings, security, blog contributors and commentors)
Tetsuro Nishida said "Jmail's user base of over 120,000 users is unique; we provide addresses for 100 domains, from sushi.co.jp, to soccer.co.jp, even to moon.co.jp. Jmail users happily segment themselves according to interests, which should lead to some interesting and popular blogs and sites."
